Oh boy, oh boy...the Red Sox vs. Yankees rivalry is REALLY heating up!!
The HBWHOF has decided to adopt Brad Penny as the 2009 torch bearer of the fine legacy left by Pedro Martinez!!

On Friday, after the Red Sox had swept the Bronx Bums yet AGAIN...Genius/Manager Joe Girardi had this to say, "Penny's control was pretty good, and I thought it was on purpose..."
NO SHIT, SHERLOCK!! Gee, Joe - How'd you find us out? Damn, Francona may as well admit it...he's GUILTY!!!

....Here's Brad Penny's response: "I don't give two [expletives] what Joe Girardi says, I'm coming inside. I don't care.
Anybody can say that. We can say that about the time they hit our guys. I'm just trying to pitch inside. Maybe he should worry about managing and not trying to be the commissioner.
Why wouldn't he say that the night before? Don't wait a day, then say it. He should worry about managing and let the umpire crew do their job."

A little backgound: Last Tuesday, Yankees reliever Jose Veras hit Jason "Yankee Killer" Bay with a pitch. This was the SIXTH consecutive game that the Yankees had hit a Red Sox batter!! The score in BATTERS HIT-BY-PITCH AT THE TIME: RED SOX BATTERS HIT - 9....YANKEES BATTERS HIT - 2!!!!
Back in May Joba Chamberlain also hit Jason Bay. Chamberlain has made a career out of throwing at Kevin Youkilis. He's thrown at Youk four times in the past two seasons. Joba was suspended for two games in 2007 for throwing at Youkilis' head!!

....YANKEES' INSTRUMENT OF INTIMIDATION!!!!....




....Sadly, there's a long stretch until we can see what goes down between these two rivals. Boston and New York don't meet again until August 6th!!!

In the meantime the Red Sox beat the Phillies on Saturday night 11-6 and go for the sweep today at 1:35 - Citizens Bank Park - Josh Beckett vs. J.A. Happ....
