SENS - RANGERS GAME....MORE SUNSHINE

The HBWHOF had a GREAT time at Saturday's Ottawa Senators - New York Rangers' game!!
Sens' coach Cory Clouston decided to go with backup goaltender Brian Elliot between the pipes....and he didn't disappoint!
The story of the game was the goaltending battle.
Ottawa outshot New York 36-28. Rangers' goalie Henrik Lundqvist was selected as the 1st Star and Brian Elliot was the 2nd Star....because the two netminders endured an overtime and faced SEVEN shooters each in the shootout before the game was decided on a Rangers' goal by Pierre Parenteau to give New York a 2-1 victory!!!

A HBWHOF PHOTOJOURNAL FROM THE SENS - RANGERS GAME....
Evidently there ARE Rangers' fans in Canada's capital....

DOCK ELLIS NO-NO ON LSD....MORE SUNSHINE

At this time of year baseball news is hard to come by....but the HBWHOF has unearthed an AWESOME animated short that tells the story of Dock Ellis' 1970 NO-HITTER for the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Remember when Reggie Jackson cranked his famous home run off the light towers above Tiger Stadium in the 1971 All-Star Game? Well Dock Ellis is the dude who served-up the pitch!!
Ellis, later, hit Reggie in the melon as retribution!!
NO MAS is featuring the video by James Blagden....

Sunday Night Football should be SWEET....New England Patriots vs. Indianapolis Colts....Tom Brady vs. Peyton Manning....GUNSLINGER TIME!!!

The BIG story in Ottawa is the goaltending for the Ottawa Senators!!
Pascal Leclaire didn't look too good in Thursday night's 5-1 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers.
The Senators' backup goalie is Brian Elliot who played at the University of Wisconsin then went on to the Binghamton Senators of the AHL.
WHO WILL PLAY TODAY AGAINST THE RANGERS?

REMEMBRANCE DAY MASK....THE WAR MEMORIAL....MORE SUNSHINE

On Thursday night the HBWHOF watched the Montreal Canadiens - Phoenix Coyotes game on RDS.
RDS is the french version of TSN....which is the Canadian version of ESPN....
except it actually covers the NHL!!
The Canadiens won 4-2.
Montreal goaltender Carey Price wore this AWESOME mask as a Remembrance Day tribute to our veterans and soldiers....

The mask features a likeness of a wreath-laying soldier on one side, a bagpiper on the other and the words to John McCrae's World War I poem In Flanders Fields in both of Canada's official languages. Also featured are poppies and a yellow ribbon of support for our country's troops. The words Lest We Forget/N'Oublions Pas frame the ribbon.
Price's special mask will eventually be auctioned to benefit the Canadian Forces' charitable work with its members and their families through
Wounded Warriors.

Here's the mask prior to the cage being attached. The photos are courtesy of the mask's designer - David Arrigo....

THE HBWHOF IS IN OTTAWA

The HBWHOF is visiting Canada`s capital....AGAIN!!!
Just finished scarfing-down copious amounts of chicken wings at THE ROYAL OAK on Bank Street and the big screen was featuring tonight`s tilt between the hometown Ottawa Senators and the visiting Philadelphia Flyers.
The Big Story in Ottawa is the return of one-time Sens' goaltender Ray Emery who NOW tends the twine for the Flyers!!
The Senators ditched Emery after growing weary of his lackadaisical practice habits and penchant for off-ice incidents. It didn't take long for Emery to become cold property in the NHL and, as a result, he was forced to play last season in the Russian Kontinental Hockey League.

EMERY AND SNOOP IN THE OTTAWA DAYS....

You know how all the teams in Europe cover every inch of their uniforms and equipment with advertisements and sponsors?
Well, this is what transpired when a Russian trainer attempted to place a sponsor's hat on Emery....

REMEMBRANCE DAY

KENNETH G. LOOP - CANADIAN ARMED FORCES - SERVED IN WORLD WAR II
STATIONED IN ENGLAND

TODAY....AT THE 11TH HOUR OF THE 11TH DAY OF THE 11TH MONTH WE REMEMBER....

I sit here and casually write a blog. My fridge and cupboards are full of food. I have a good job. My wife and children are healthy and receiving excellent educations.
I live in a wonderful country. I am free....
These things are possible because, yesterday and - still - today, brave men and women are fighting....and dying....for me....
NEVER - EVER - FORGET THIS....

FIRST WORLD WAR: CANADA'S POPULATION - 8 MILLION
690,000 CANADIANS SERVE....66,665 DIE....173,000 WOUNDED
CANADIANS FIGHT THE BLOODY BATTLES AT VIMY RIDGE, PASSCHENDAELE, YPRES AND
SOMME

SECOND WORLD WAR: CANADA'S POPULATION - 11 MILLION
1.1 MILLION CANADIANS SERVE....46,998 DIE....54,000 WOUNDED
CANADIANS FIGHT THE BLOODY BATTLES AT DIEPPE AND
JUNO BEACH

IN KOREA 516 CANADIANS DIED, IN PEACEKEEPING MISSIONS 121 CANADIANS HAVE DIED AND IN AFGHANISTAN 130 CANADIANS HAVE DIED AS OF THIS WRITING....

IN FLANDERS FIELDS

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

— Lt.-Col. John McCrae (1872 - 1918)

A very impressive group of guys were inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame on Monday.
The Class of 2009 - Brett Hull, Lou Lamoriello, Brian Leetch, Luc Robitaille and Steve Yzerman....

This dude showed-up for the festivities....

Gretzky played with Robitaille (L.A.), Hull (St. Louis) and Leetch (N.Y. Rangers), and shared a number of Team Canada assignments with Yzerman....

BACK IN THE DAY....
Eighteen-year-old Steve Yzerman is drafted FOURTH overall....

Luc Robitaille wins the Calder Trophy as Rookie of the Year despite being drafted
171st overall....

Drafted 171st and he became the HIGHEST-SCORING LEFT WINGER IN NHL HISTORY!!
THE HBWHOF ALWAYS LIKED ROBITAILLE'S WIFE - STACIA....

Drafted 117th overall Brett Hull finished his NHL career with 741 goals....

The Golden Brett, The Golden Jet and The Great One....

Drafted NINTH overall, Brian Leetch became one of the BEST DEFENCEMEN EVER....

I know I've shown this before....but the HBWHOF REALLY digs Nikolai Khabibulin's Grant Fuhr Tribute Mask....

....THE REAL DEAL....

Here's Jennifer Love Hewitt working the pole on Ghost Whisperer....

They brought in Marisa Miller to school the Wanna-Be's on America's Next Top Model!!!

LOOK OUT THE OILERS ARE GETTING HEALTHY....BATTLE OF THE BLADES & KATARINA WITT

My Edmonton Oilers are beginning to resurface from the mini-pandemic that waylayed the team the past few weeks! Unlike the Toronto Maple Leafs and Calgary Flames, who shoved aside pregnant women and toddlers to get theit H1N1 vaccines, the Oilers toughed-it-out and let their immune systems take care of business!!
So, now that the Oilers are, finally, beginning to get healthy again....they're playing
KICK-ASS HOCKEY!!!
Edmonton handed the Colorado Avalanche their FIRST home loss this season!
The Oilers were 4-for-7 on the power play!!
Ryan Potulny, called up from the AHL, scored the game winner and Nikolai Khabibulin made 34 saves to preserve the win!!!
GO AHEAD....CRASH THE CREASE....YOU CAN'T PENETRATE THE BULIN WALL....

Oh, baby, BATTLE OF THE BLADES is down to the CREAM OF THE CROP now....Super-Hot Shae-Lynn Bourne & Claude Lemieux, Jamie Sale' & Craig Simpson and Marie-France Dubreuil & Stephane Richer....

On Sunday night the guest judge was four-time World Champion and two-time Olympic Gold Medalist Katarina Witt....

Katarina seemed to be a bit OVER-ENAMOURED with STEPHANE RICHER....

Richer won TWO Stanley Cups, with the Canadiens and the Devils, and was the LAST 50-goal-scorer for Montreal....

You have to be a fuck of an athlete to make the transition from hockey skates to figure skates and pull off this kind of performance....
....Stay tuned for some GREAT figure skating ass at the 2:03 mark!!!!

Geez, the chicks were drooling over Richer the entire show....
Here's MORE Katarina Witt.....
